Meet you at the strip joint
Friday, August 1, 2008

Oh, what a colorful little detail to add to the already colorful saga of the drug ring in Schenectady that allegedly included Lisa Kaczmarek, wife of retired Police Chief Greg Kaczmarek.

It popped up in some motion papers filed the other day by the state attorney general’s office, which is handling the prosecution.

It has to with a stunt the State Police played last February, swiping a shipment of cocaine that was on its way from Long Island to Schenectady just to see how the Schenectady dealers would react.

According to the state’s lawyers, Lisa telephoned the head of the drug ring, Kerry Kirkem, and told him that “she and her husband Greg would be going to the Gentleman’s Club ‘DiCarlo’s’ that night, and that Kirkem should meet them at the club to discuss it.”

Isn’t that jolly? The retired police chief and his wife were having an evening out at a Central Avenue strip joint and offered to meet a drug dealer there to discuss the problem of a stolen cocaine shipment. Mixing business and pleasure, you might say.

This is alleged, I hasten to add, not proven. Lisa has been indicted but has not pleaded guilty or been convicted, and Greg has been neither charged nor indicted. More than half of the other 23 people indicted, however, have pleaded guilty, including Kirkem, who was sentenced to 12 years, so it’s not as if this is some prosecutor’s fantasy.

I will have more to say on the subject in my column in the Sunday Gazette, which I hope you will not hesitate to purchase.

If you think that's shady, even I've been there- Once.
The men's bathroom sink was full of vomit for three hours straight. Some dude was wasted and tried to touch one of the dancers and the bouncers asked him to leave. Twenty minutes later an ambulance showed up with some cops because someone in this gentleman's clique hit another man with a pipe in the face.

I'm definitely going back now.
