Silver posterizes Donald Sterling, bans owner for life
If Marv Albert was calling play-by-play of the rookie NBA commissioners news conference announcing the lifetime ban of Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling, it would have been short, trademark and sweet:
"Adam Silver throws down on Donald Sterling ... with AUTHORITY."
The overwhelming response on Twitter to this NBA life sentence has been undedeniably and deservedly positive.
The Sterling Matter was Adam Silver's first big test as NBA Commissioner. Grade: A+. THROW IT DOWN!!— Not Bill Walton (@NotBillWalton) April 29, 2014
Silver could have gone a lot of routes here, but staking his legitimacy to the job he assumed from the retired David Stern required boldness. He delivered.
Final note: The "We Are One" screen grab? That is the L.A. Clippers home page.
