The first University at Albany football player ever to sign with the New York Giants has been cut.
Offensive lineman Jacob Hobbs, a Schenecatdy High School and UAlbany graduate who played for the Albany Conquest earlier this season, had signed a contract with the New York Giants and expected to show his stuff at the New York Giants summer training camp next month at UAlbany, but the Giants announced several cuts on Monday, and Hobbs was among them.
Hobbs, who played four exhibition games with the Philadelphia Eagles last season, was a member of the Albany Conquest this season before signing with the Giants. It will be interesting to see if Hobbs returns to the Conquest or if he continues to try to hook on with another NFL team this summer.
