Mantas joins Skidmore staff

Former Skidmore College men's basketball player John Mantas has joined the staff as an assistant coach under head coach Joe Burke.

The Niskayuna native and Christian Brothers Academy graduate played played in 98 games for Skidmore, helping the Thoroughbreds win back-to-back Liberty League titles in 2011 and 2012. He was a three-time Liberty League All-Academic selection.

"I am extremely excited to be a part of the Skidmore Basketball program again," Mantas said in a press release. "This young team is so talented and I believe their potential may be greater than any other team this program has fielded before."

Skidmore, 15-11 last season, opens on Nov. 15 against Rhode Island College in the first round of the Babson Tip-Off Tournament.
