Douglas perfect at Sportsman's
Bill Douglas of the Gazette league shot the first perfect game on the new synthetic lanes at Sportsman's Bowl today.
Douglas, who finished the season with a career-best 783 triple bowling right-handed and a 634 bowling left-handed in the same roll-off match to help his Les is More team win the league title on one of the last days using the old wood surface back in April, hadn't touched a bowling ball since then. But he reeled off a season-opening 782 on the new lanes surface.
Both Paul Adkins and Mike Guidarelli, co-proprietors at Sportsman's along with Bob Tedesco Jr., said that they are tweaking the oiling techniques as they go. Based on Douglas' performance, they've found something that works for most of the right-handers.
Sportsman's will continue to experiment with the oil patterns as they get feedback from the major leagues, as well as the rest of the house leagues.
