Union's Eck, Reynolds top tandem
Junior quarterback Connor Eck and junior wideout Kyle Reynolds could be one of the top passing combos in NCAA Division III football this season.
After all, in their first season together on the varsity, they clicked immediately.
Good friends both on and off the field, Eck and Reynolds always appear in sync, especially on passing routes.
Eck, who won a battle for the No. 1 QB position with Nick Becker a year ago, completed 134 of 224 passes for 1,914 yards and 17 touchdowns. He was intercepted just three times. Plus, he ran for 379 yards and four touchdowns.
Reynolds topped the Dutchmen with 40 receptions for 618 yards and 11 scores.
With several other top wideouts back, including Brian Havlicek (15 catches, 220 yards), and with a trio of strong runners in TJ Franzese (819 yards, seven TDs), Darnell Thomas (408 yards, six TDs) and Dylan Schuck (three TDs), the Dutchmen should be able to put points on the board.
The question marks include the offensive line and on defense, where the Dutchmen return only four starters. The biggest loss was linebacker Noah Joseph, who made more than 100 tackles a year ago.
