Major bowling leagues start quick

No surprise that the Monday major bowling leagues started off strong tonight.

John Musto Jr. hammered a 279-804 in the Sportsman's Majors on the new synthetic lanes at Sportsman's Bowl, where Jason Deitz ripped a 279-781. Jim Parker, a lefty, added a 266-758.

In the 14-team DV Greco Insurance City League at Towne Bowling Academy, the scoring wasn't quite as high, but Jim Geiger led the way with a 268-760. Jamie Diamond (274-752) and Ken Wilkins (267-750) also bettered 750.

The Schenectady League at Rolling Greens opens up next week. Several other major leagues, including the Capital District All Star, the Rolling Greens Classic and the DV Greco Insurance Women's Doubles league, opened up last week.

Bowling is back
