WAMC promoting staff members

WAMC Northeast Public Radio announced four new staffing decisions on Wednesday afternoon.

Katie Britton is now program and outreach director, Ian Pickus is news director, Patrick Donges is associate news director and Michelle Battle is database manager.

WAMC President and CEO Dr. Alan Chartock said in a statement, "Every one of these young professionals has demonstrated outstanding professionalism and a commitment to excelling in their field. We're very proud of their ongoing dedication to the station and look forward to their continued contribution to WAMC."

Britton, who has been with WAMC for 11 years, most recently served as news director. Her new job puts her in charge of daily and special programing. Battle, who spent several years as an independent marketing and database consultant, assumes control of the station's database programs and marketing.

Pickus, who has served as a producer since 2008, will now be lead the WAMC news team. He has worked as a freelance reporter for the Associated Press and has strong roots to the Saratogian.

In 2011, Pickus rose to local fame during an appearance on Jeopardy. He still does trivia, competing weekly at the Elbo Room in Albany, where he plays for "The Fist."

Donges, who most recently was assistant associate news director, previously spent some time as the station's Berkshire Bureau Chief and before that worked for his college radio station and also worked for the Saratogian. He also plays trivia with Pickus.
