New hotel planned for Glenville

A new hotel for Glenville was the big talk at the town's second annual "Let's Talk Business" event tonight.

Pat Popolizio announced that he will invest between $10 million and $14 million to build a 100-room hotel on the the Water's Edge Lighthouse property, which hosted tonight's event. Last year, he said, he was talking to national chains about building a three- to four-story hotel between the restaurant and his banquet facility.

A groundbreaking is planned for this fall, Popolizio added. He has owned the property since 2004.

More than 100 local developers, landowners and business owners were in attendance to hear the announcement.

Glenville LDC Prez Jim Martin said later in the evening, "If you want to come here and be prosperous and be profitable, this is the community for you."
