Home Depot is hiring
As The Home Depot ramps up preparation for its busy spring selling season, it announced Wednesday it plans to hire 375 people at its Albany stores and 80,000 seasonal workers nationwide.
The hiring spree is a 14 percent increase in seasonal hires compared to last year, according to a company news release. More than half of The Home Depot's 70,000 spring hires last year were given permanent jobs after the season ended.
The Home Depot is asking interested workers to apply now. Seasonal employees are given responsibility based on previous retail and home improvement experience.
In particular, The Home Depot is encouraging returning military and veterans who might be interested to consult its new Online Military Skills Translator — an online tool that helps match unique military skills with positions at the home improvement retailer. The retailer has hired more than 60,000 veterans since 2004, and has been recognized by G.I. Jobs magazine as a "Top 25 Military-Friendly Employer" for the the last seven years. The skills translator and calendar of military hiring events is online.
Interested workers can apply online. Area candidates should select "In-Store Hourly" in Albany, and then click "Search."
The Home Depot has stores on Central Avenue and Washington Avenue Extension in Albany.
