CaNine to Five opens in Mont Pleasant

Schenectady County officials gathered today to cut the ribbon on a new day camp for dogs that opened last week on the outskirts of the city's Mont Pleasant neighborhood.

CaNine to Five LLC opened Feb. 11 in the Goldcrest Electronics building at 1742 Chrisler Ave. Owners Amy Pollard and Samantha Smith started the business out of their love for dogs, fitness and desire to make sure that dogs stay fit.

"At CaNine to Five day camp, your dog will have a fun, safe, exercise- and socialization-packed day," they write on their website. "We believe that structured play and physical activity create a well-balanced and happy dog. Days will be filled with playgroups, walks or runs, obedience and naps. Your dog will also enjoy an individual activity of his or her choosing, whether it's a peanut-butter filled toy or game of fetch."

The day camp facility includes an indoor and fenced-in outdoor play area, comfortable raised beds and mats for napping dogs and an indoor treadmill for dog walks during inclement weather.

A full day at the camp costs $25 and a half day costs $17.

In addition to dog day camp services, CaNine to Five LLC also offers in-home dog walking and pet sitting. The CaNine to Five day camp To-Go program is designed for pet owners who want their dogs to have a mid-day walk or some one-on-one time while they're away at work. A 15-minute pet sit costs $10, a 30-minute pet sit and dog walk costs $15, and a 1-hour pet sit and dog walk cost $25.
