By Bethany Bump
Wednesday, July 3, 2013

The 7th annual smAlbany 2013 Small Business Expo will be held July 17 this year, and will feature speakers whose expertise ranges from green technology to social media and more.

George Keleshian, CEO of Guilderland-based Zeroenergy Buildings Inc., will deliver a keynote speech on the potential that exists to reduce a company's carbon footprint to nothing. He will also talk about the entrepreneurship, technology and career openings that have moved his business to the forefront of the industry.

smAlbany's goal is to help businesses succeed in the digital age through the use of seminars, networking opportunities, a recruiting platform, informational workshops, educational forums, product demos and motivational support.

The event will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the University at Albany's College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering. More than 1,000 people attended the event last year.

“Admission is free to the public and the expo is dedicated to helping area businesses succeed in the digital climate with the latest technological advancements,” said Darcy Knapp, of SEO Web Mechanics, which organized the event. “Whether you are looking to gain a new networking partner, save money with a local vendor or learn how to better manage your business, smAlbany offers you everything in one location.”

Presenters at this year's event include Lisbeth Calandrino, of Albany; Action Now, of Ghent; Groff NetWorks, of Troy; Marketing Wiz, of Albany; Clickit Digital, of Albany; Grimm Communications, of Albany; Liberteks, of Albany; and SEO Web Mechanics, of Altamont.

The event is also a hiring opportunity. Job seekers will have the opportunity to interview with staffing agencies and local firms throughout the day. Resumes will be collected during registration and distributed to all employers.

Liberteks President and smAlbany founder Larry Zimbler said attendance is expected to surpass 1,000 based on pre-registration numbers.

The business expo and social media conference is sponsored by CNSE, the Times Union, Clear Channel Radio Group, Liberteks.com and SEO Web Mechanics.
