Thai Thai Bistro opens in old Bangkok space

A new restaurant has officially opened in the former space of Bangkok Bistro in Schenectady.

Thai Thai Bistro offers Thai food and a sushi bar just like its predecessor, which closed at the end of July. It's run by Piyamas DeMasi, a 38-year-old Schenectady woman who was a server at Bangkok Bistro for six years.

DeMasi spent a dozen years working for a food company in Thailand before moving to the U.S. in 2007. She signed a five-year lease for the space at 268 State St. a few months ago, and promptly began securing approvals, a health permit and a liquor license. The Daily Gazette wrote about her plans in September.

Thai Thai Bistro is open Monday and Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 9 p.m., according to the restaurant's Facebook page.
