Growing like a weed

Eighteen businesses in the Capital Region made Inc. Magazine's Inc. 5000 list, an annual ranking of the fastest-growing private companies in the country.

The list, announced Wednesday, is now in its 33rd year.

At the top is Fuhu, a tablet maker headquartered in California that has experienced a whopping 158,957 percent growth in three years. In 2013, it raked in $195.6 million in revenue, up from just $123,000 in 2010. Founded in 2008, the company makes Android tablets for kids and an Adobe Air application that allows children to access the Internet in a parent-controlled environment.

Growth rates are tracked over a three-year period. The following local companies made the list:

• No. 1532 Integra Networks, of Latham — 279 percent growth

• No. 1831 Deep Blue Communications, of Latham — 225 percent growth

• No. 1950 nfrastructure, of Clifton Park — 208 percent growth

• No. 2000 SmartWatt Energy, of Ballston Lake — 203 percent growth

• No. 2929 SportsSignup, of Latham — 124 percent growth

• No. 3203 Treo Solutions, of Troy — 109 percent growth

• No. 4178 Tully Rinckey, of Albany — 69 percent growth

• No. 4187 Commercial Capital Training Group, of Albany — 69 percent growth

• No. 4229 ClassBook.com, of Castleton — 67 percent growth

• No. 4338 Informz, of Saratoga Springs — 63 percent growth

• No. 4362 Documentation Strategies, of Rensselaer — 63 percent growth

• No. 4429 Annese & Associates, of Clifton Park — 61 percent growth

• No. 4649 Mazzone Management Group, of Scotia — 53 percent growth

• No. 4747 Etransmedia Technology, of Troy — 50 percent growth

• No. 4779 Transfinder, of Schenectady — 49 percent growth

• No. 4915 DWM Facilities Maintenance, of Latham — 45 percent growth

• No. 4942 Huff 'N Puff, of Schenectady — 44 percent growth
