A 19-year veteran of the Albany County Sheriff’s Department, who allegedly assaulted a female acquaintance at his residence last week, has been arrested and suspended without pay.
Deputy Sheriff Craig Zarriello, 46, of Mountainview Drive, Colonie, allegedly choked and punched the 27-year old female who was staying at his residence on Jan. 10 and again on Jan. 11.
He was arrested Wednesday and charged with third-degree assault and released on $2,500 bail. He was placed under the supervision of the Albany County Probation Department.
