An Albany police sergeant who allegedly waved a handgun at a clerk was suspended on Monday and an internal investigation is ongoing.
Sgt. Kevin McKenna was suspended on Monday, according to a union member.
The alleged incident took place while McKenna was working at the traffic unit on Central Avenue during a recent snow emergency.
“An officer was suspended and there is an internal investigation,” said Det. James Miller, spokesman for the Department of Public Safety, who would not elaborate.
Lt. Timothy Close, president of the Albany Police Supervisors’ Association, could not be reached this morning to comment.
