Union beats St. Lawrence for seventh straight win

Torren Delforte scored 6:59 into the third period, snapping a 1-1 tie and lifting Union to a 3-1 ECAC Hockey victory over St. Lawrence at Appleton Arena.

It is the seventh straight win for the Dutchmen, setting a team record. It also ended a six-game losing streak to the Saints.

The Dutchmen and Colorado College are tied for the longest unbeaten streak in the nation. CC is 6-0-1 in its last seven.

Jason Walters added a goal late in the third.

Matt Cook scored 3:39 into the second period to tie the score for the Dutchmen.

Cook was in the slot when he took a Mike Schreiber pass from the left circle and fired it past goalie John Hallas. That ended a scoreless streak of 83 minutes, 39 seconds against Hallas, who shut out Union, 4-0, in the Governor’s Cup third-place game Oct. 27.

The Dutchmen outshot the Saints, 14-6, in the second. They have a 20-16 shot advantage after two.

Jordan Hack scored in the first for the Saints.
