Clarkson snaps Union’s winning streak

Shea Guthrie scored with 3:25 left in the third period Saturday, lifting 10th-ranked Clarkson to a 3-2 ECAC Hockey victory over Union on Saturday at Cheel Arena.

The loss ended the Dutchmen’s team-record seven-game winning streak. The Dutchmen were 7-1 in January.

Guthrie put in the rebound of a Chris D’Alvise shot past goalie Justin Mrazek. The goal came less than two minutes after Adam Presizniuk tipped in a Mike Harr right-point shot past goalie David Leggio.

Brandon DeFazio gave league-leading Clarkson a 1-0 lead at 12:26 of the first period.

Mario Valery-Trabucco tied it for the Dutchmen with a power-play goal at 11:58 of the second period, a period in which Union outshot Clarkson, 19-8.The Dutchmen had three other shots hit the post.

Steve Zalewski snapped the tie 4:01 into the third period.

Union returns home Friday to face Quinnipiac.
