The American Red Cross is assisting a family of five with temporary lodging after a Sunday evening fire heavily damaged their Route 20 area home.

No injuries were initially reported, but two adults and three children, ages 14, 12, and 9, had to be relocated to a motel because of fire damage, according to Siobhan Gallagher, spokeswoman for the American Red Cross of Northeastern New York in Albany.

The Red Cross is also assisting six people who were forced from their home on Glen Avenue in Amsterdam by a Sunday night fire. Assistance included clothing, food and temporary lodging, Gallagher said.
