Pairings for the Section II boys’ and girls’ basketball tournaments were released today, with the unbeaten girls’ teams from Amsterdam (Big 10 Class AA), Hoosic Valley (Class B) and Schenectady Christian School (Class C) among the top seeds.

Boys: Class AA, Class A, Class B, Class CC, Class C, Class D.

Girls: Class AA, Class A, Class B, Class CC, Class C, Class D.

Other top-seeded girls’ teams include Shenendehowa (Suburban Council, Class AA), Averill Park (Class A) and Argyle (Class D). The Boys’ top seeds are Bishop Maginn (Big 10, Class AA), Guilderland (Suburban Council, Class AA), Albany Academy (Class A), Ichabod Crane (Class B), Schenectady Christian (Class CC), Rensselaer (Class C) and North Warren (Class D).

The boys’ event begins Saturday with a Class AA play-in game sending Albany to fellow Big 10 representative LaSalle. The boys’ and girls’ first-round games are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, with several boy-girl double-headers on the slate.

Among the boys’ teams that will host first round games are Schenectady, Mohonasen, Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons, Scotia-Glenville, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, Broadalbin-Perth, Fonda-Fultonville, Saratoga Catholic, Mechanicville and Berne-Knox-Westerlo. Girls’ first-round hosts include Schenectady, Niskayuna, Catholic Central, Fonda-Fultonville and Stillwater.

Several teams still have regular-season games to get in before the sectionals, including the Scotia-Glenville, Schenectady Christian and Mechanicville boys and girls.
