Goals by Aaron Palushaj and Kevin Porter lifted top-seeded Michigan past third-seeded Clarkson, 2-0, in the NCAA Hockey East Region final Saturday at the Times Union Center.
The Wolverines advance to the Frozen Four April 10-12 in Denver.
Porter scored five goals, and was named the most outstanding player of the regional.
Palushaj scored a power-play goal with 5:37 left in the first period. He skated down the right wing, pulling Clarkson goalie David Leggio out of his net. Palushaj skated around the net, and fired the puck into the open net.
Porter got the second goal 26 seconds into the third. Taking a pass from Max Pacioretty down low, Porter deposited the puck past Leggio.
Michigan goalie Billy Sauer made 27 saves, including several spectacular ones during a Clarkson power play late in the game.
