A man found unconscious and with a gunshot wound Tuesday in an alley on Bridge Street died later that night, city police said.

Police said Anthony Brown, 27, of Schenectady, was found just after 6 p.m. in an alley next to 816 Bridge St. with a gunshot wound in his lower back. He died a short time later at Albany Medical Center, police said.

Police said they are looking for a black man about 5-foot-7 and with a thin build who was wearing all dark clothing and was seen by witnesses running west on Lansing Street. Anyone with information is asked to call city police at 382-5263

The shooting is the latest in a series of incidents in the winter and early spring. It also follows a shooting March 30 at Bridge Street and Francis Avenue that injured two.
