Jury selection in the murder trial of Omari Lee, 26, entered its second day today with three people picked and 11 more to go.
Lee is accused of gunning down Xavier McDaniel, a onetime Schenectady High School basketball player, outside Jerry Burrell Park on April 3, 2007. McDaniel died as he sat in his car on Hamilton Street outside the park.
Lee faces one count of first-degree murder and other counts. He also allegedly stole a small bag of marijuana during the crime.
His attorney, Mark Sacco, initially claimed Lee wasn’t even in the county at the time of the attack, but has missed several deadlines to give prosecutors a notice of alibi. It was unclear if Sacco would still attempt to make that claim at trial.
