Divers have recovered the body of a Schenectady man who fell into the Hudson River in Troy this morning.
Police said Ron Marotta, 38, of Schenectady, was installing docks at the Troy Town Dock and Marina on River Street when he fell into the river.
“We were called to the Troy dock at 11:30 a.m. this morning,” said Sgt. David Dean, spokesman for the Troy Police Department. “The dockmaster was placing docks into the water with two other men. One of the men, identified as Marotta, fell into the water.”
Dean said it’s unclear if Marotta had a medical condition prior to his fall into the river.
A state police helicopter was on the scene to aid in the search. Dive teams from state police and Albany County Sheriff’s Department searched for Marotta’s body, while a state police helicopter provided support.
Marotta’s family members gathered by the river as the search continued.
