Firefighters rescued a woman from her burning home this morning.

Police said they received a call reporting the fire at 3:15 a.m. When Carman, Rotterdam and Stanford Heights firefighters arrived, flames were visible, and firefighters found Corin Reilly, 26, unconscious on the kitchen floor, police said.

“She went out of her bedroom and downstairs to grab her cats,” said Philipp Wickert, Reilly’s brother-in-law. “That’s when she passed out.”

Reilly was taken to Ellis Hospital and was then airlifted to New York City, where she is being treated for severe smoke inhalation, Wickert said.

Wickert said Reilly is expected to recover. Her two cats died in the fire, however, he said.

The fire remains under investigation, police said, but the cause appears to have been electrical, Wickert said.
