The 17-year-old boy charged in a fatal September shooting on Hamilton Hill has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge.
Kassun Brown of 10 Mynderse St. pleaded guilty this morning in Schenectady County Court to a single count of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Details of the agreement, including his sentence, were not disclosed.
Brown and Craig N. Thompson, 21, of 64 Willow Ave., were each charged initially with second-degree murder in the shooting death of 29-year-old Hassan Rainey on Sept. 13, 2007, at the intersection of Craig Street and Duane Avenue.
Brown was accused of driving Thompson to the encounter and speeding up to Rainey’s car so Thompson could fire several shots. Rainey was hit once and died, while a passenger in his car was uninjured.
The shooting, authorities said, was the result of a long-running feud between Thompson and Rainey.
