A 14-year-old girl was airlifted to Albany Medical Center this afternoon after being struck by a car on Sacandaga Road.

Fire Capt. Ken Almy said the girl was attempting to cross the street in front of the Scotia Village Plaza just after noon when she was struck by a gray Pontiac. Almy said the girl did not remember the accident and had a severe head wound.

Police blocked off Sacandaga Road from Swan Street to Seeley Street and the helicopter touched down in the plaza parking lot to transport the girl.
