Two men were taken to area hospitals with minor injuries late Sunday after a two-car crash on Western Avenue.

Police said Steven Oberhofer, 25, of Guilderland, was driving west on Route 20 just before 10 p.m. when he struck a vehicle driven by George Mata at the intersection of Johnston Road.

Mata, 54, of Colonie, was traveling north on Johnston Road and had the green light when the collision occurred, according to police. Mata’s vehicle rolled over after it was struck and came to rest near the Metro 20 Diner.

Both drivers were able to exit their vehicles on their own. Mata was taken to Albany Medical Center and Oberhofer was taken to St. Peter’s Hospital. Both men were treated for minor injuries.

Oberhofer was charged with driving while intoxicated, third-degree assault, passing a red light and other traffic infractions. He was released on appearance tickets.
