A former school bus driver pleaded guilty Friday to forcibly touching three teenage boys.
Douglas Conrad, 35, of 151 Jefferson St., pleaded guilty in City Court to three misdemeanor counts, one for each victim. He originally was charged with six counts in Saratoga Springs, but reducing the counts to three will not affect his sentence, said Saratoga County District Attorney James Murphy III.
Conrad will be sentenced Sept. 18 in City Court. He can get up to 60 days in jail and a mandatory six years of probation afterward.
“One of the things that the victims wanted us to do for them was try to control him as much as possible,” Murphy said. He thinks the long probation will accomplish that goal.
Murphy also seeks to have Conrad listed as a sex offender, which would require his address to be available to the public, would prohibit him from working for a school and from being within 1,000 feet of a school.
The guilty plea also will satisfy charges in Mechanicville, where Conrad is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday, Murphy said. The victim involved in the Mechanicville case is also one of the victims in the Saratoga Springs case, he said.
Murphy said there is an ongoing police investigation into allegations by one of the victims that Conrad committed felony-level sex offenses against him. John Aretakis, a lawyer who is representing that teen, said Friday he is disappointed that felony charges have not been filed against Conrad.
Conrad is free on bail.
