One woman was sent to the Westchester Burn Center Sunday after a fire tore through her 109 Guy Park Ave., apartment Saturday night.
Fire Lt. Andrew Castler said the department received the call around 10 p.m. Upon arrival crews heard reports of a person still inside the second floor apartment where the fire appeared to have started.
“Firefighters made entry, knocked down the fire and discovered one resident who was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital by GAVAC,” Castler said.
Castler said the woman who was later transferred to Westchester, was breathing when she was treated by paramedics at the scene.
Castler said the rest of the tenants in the multi-family home were uninjured. Displaced tenants were allowed to return Sunday.
Castler said the fire was under control in about 20 minutes. The second floor apartment received heavy smoke and fire damage. The fire’s cause is still under investigation.
