The body of a Menands man was found burning this morning in a Selkirk intersection.
A woman alerted police at about 11:30 a.m. to what she believed might be a mannequin burning at the intersection of Cedar Road and Barent Winne Road, near the Hudson River.
Police and fire officials arrived and doused the object and determined it to be the body of a 39-year-old man, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. A vehicle associated with the individual was found about a half-mile away, near the Hudson River, Bethlehem Deputy Police Chief Tim Beebe said.
Beebe declined to provide any other details, but said police are working to determine whether foul play was involved. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
“This is a very unusual set of circumstances,” Beebe said. “Until we can connect more dots, we’re not prepared to call it one thing or another.”
