The annual holiday tree lighting at the Empire State Plaza will take place at 6 tonight.
High winds forced the state to reschedule the event from Sunday.
The Empire State Plaza holiday tree is a 30-foot blue spruce tree donated by Arlene Blasen of Latham. The tree is decorated with energy-saving light emitting diode bulbs, which use 82 percent less electricity than traditional lights.
Fireworks will follow the tree lighting.
