Union’s penalty kill shut down Brown’s power play, and Adam Presizniuk, Jason Walters and Chris Potts scored to help the Dutchmen past the Bears, 3-1, Saturday in an ECAC Hockey game at Messa Rink.
The Dutchmen, who gave up three power-play goals in six chances in a 5-4 loss at Brown Dec. 5, killed off all eight of the Bears’ chances in the rematch. Union gave up six power-play chances in the third period, including a pair of two-man advantages.
Union has not allowed a power-play goal in its last four games.
Presizniuk gave the Dutchmen a 1-0 lead with 1:33 left in the first period, tipping in a Brock Matheson left-point drive during a delayed penalty against the Bears.
Walters made it 2-0 on the power play with five seconds left in the second period. His centering pass from the bottom of the left circle, intended for Matt Cook to the right of the net, glanced off of a Brown defender and into the net.
Bobby Farnham made it 2-1 with 1:17 left in the game, but Potts iced the win on an empty-net goal with 2.8 seconds left.
