Goalie Alex Petizian made 31 saves, including 16 in the first period, leading St. Lawrence to a 2-0 ECAC Hockey victory over Union on Friday at Messa Rink.
Eight of the saves Petizian made in the first came on four Dutchmen power plays. Union had 6:04 of uninterrupted power-play time, including three five-on-threes.
Union also hit the post three times in the first, including two during the power plays.
“It was, obviously, really tough,” Petizian said. “But my defensemen let me see every shot, and they cleared out every second chance they had. It made my job easier. I felt good out there.”
Zach Miskovic and Jeremiah Cunningham scored for the Saints.
St. Lawrence lost defenseman Matt Generous to a sprained MCL in his left knee. Generous suffered the injury when he was checked into the boards by Union’s Brian Yanovitch in the first period. Saints coach Joe Marsh said Generous will miss Saturday’s game at RPI.
