Suburban Council rivals Mohonasen and Averill Park will square off in the Class A girls’ basketball final Saturday after the Mighty Warriors pulled away from Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake in the second half, 42-30, and Averill Park handed Holy Names its first loss, 49-43, in semifinals tonight at Colonie High School.
Mohonasen did not score in the first quarter and trailed by 11-10 at halftime. But Leah McLain clicked for all 18 of her points in the second half for the 20-2 Warriors. Georgina Farrow had 13 for the 4-18 Spartans, who surprised Lansingburgh in the quarterfinals.
Averill Park (15-7), broke away from a 38-38 tie with an 11-5 run to end the game as Holy Names finished with a 21-1 record.
Mohonasen and Averill Park will tip off at 1:45 p.m. Saturday at Hudson Valley Community College.
