Third-period goals by Mark Magnowski and Lee Jubinville lifted Princeton to a 3-2 victory over Union on Friday in Game 1 of the ECAC Hockey tournament quarterfinals at Hobey Baker Rink.
The Tigers take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series. Game 2 is Saturday at 7 p.m.
Dan Barltett also scored for Princeton.
Adam Presizniuk gave Union a 1-0 lead on a power-play goal with 20 seconds left in the first period. Stephane Boileau got a power-play goal for the Dutchmen with 6:07 left in the third.
Union was outshot, 38-27.
“We struggled winning a lot of one-on-one battles,” Union coach Nate Leaman said. “I thought our team played like they were on cold medicine, to be honest with you. We lost the one-on-one battles. If you lose the one-on-one battles, it’s tough to produce offense.”
