Television news lovers are getting another choice at 11 p.m.

Officials at Albany’s WXXA, Fox 23, said today they will extend their evening news block 30 minutes. WXXA’s evening broadcast has started at 10 p.m. since its inception in 1996.

The station’s 11 p.m. news will launch on Monday, June 29.

WXXA will continue its 10 and 10:30 p.m. broadcasts. At 11, the station will go up against established 11 p.m. news shows from WNYT (NewsChannel 13), WTEN (News 10) and WRGB (CBS 6).

“We really want to give people more chances to see us,” WXXA News Director Gary LaPlante said.
