Husband-wife dental team locate in Glenville where her father practices

Rebecca Szymczak Evans and Don Patton Evans, a husband and wife dental team, could have gone anywhere to start their practice. Instead, they chose Schenectady County. A key reason, Szymczak Evans said, was the opportunity to work with her father, Dr. Robert Szymczak, who started his practice in 1987.

In August, the husband and wife team opened their practice at 461 Saratoga Road. Her father’s practice occupies the same building, but the two practices are separate. They call the Saratoga Road medical site Szymczak and Evans Family General Dentistry.

“My husband and I have opened our own dental practice, but it is in same building as my father’s. It is a brand new practice, offering different hours and different days,” said Szymczak Evans.

The Evans’ practice is open Wednesday. Szymczak’s practice is open Monday and Thursday.

The new dentists plan to build their own patient base while Dr. Robert Szymczak maintains his own, Szymczak Evans said. All three dentists will work collaboratively on emergency cases. Their services include preventive and general dentistry, nutrition counseling and senior care.

Szymczak Evans said “I grew up here and I always dreamed of practicing either with my dad or in some capacity with him. I always wanted to come here to raise a family. I married a dentist and it was a nice way for all of us to be part of a community I was always involved in.” Her husband is from Vermont.

The couple graduated from State University of Buffalo School of Dental Medicine and completed their post-doctoral work at the General Practice Residency at Ellis Hospital.
