Union beats Colgate, 3-1

Stephane Boileau scored a power-play goal early in the second period to snap a 1-1 tie Friday, and goalie Keith Kinkaid made 31 saves, leading Union to 3-1 ECAC Hockey victory over Colgate at Messa Rink.

Jason Walters’ shot from the top of the slot hit the left post. Boileau was there to put in the rebound.

Mario Valery-Trabucco, who scored a short-handed goal in the first period, was stopped on a penalty shot in the second.

Jeremy Welsh scored the Dutchmen’s final goal midway through the third.

Kinkaid made 15 saves in the second period.

Ethan Cox scored late in the first for Colgate, which lost starting goalie Alex Evin to an undisclosed injury early in the third. Charles Long replaced him.
