Police allege a Cobleskill man was working as a chef while he collected more than $2,000 in unemployment benefits.

Nicholas J. Krebs, 34, was charged with first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, fourth-degree grand larceny and first-degree falsifying business records, according to state police.

Police allege Krebs falsified paperwork at the state Department of Labor and collected $2,261.50 in benefits he wasn’t entitled to from April 6 to July 5 this year.

Krebs was issued an appearance ticket returnable in Sharon Town Court.
