Siena used a balanced offense and stingy defense to defeat Rider, 84-62, in front of 6,672 at the Times Union Center tonight.
Clarence Jackson scored 22 points, including 15 in the second half, and Alex Franklin also scored 22 for Siena (1-1, 7-4). Rider fell to 1-1 in the MAAC and 8-6 overall.
Siena used a 15-2 run to go ahead by 73-43 midway through the second half.
The game was close in the first half until the Saints went on a 7-0 run late to go ahead, 44-28, with 1:33 left.
The Saints made 19 of 33 (57.6 percent) from the field, compared to 14-for-39 (35.9 percent) for the Broncs.
Rider missed all 15 three-point attempts in the first half.
