Carroll, Harvard down Union, 4-1

Goalie Ryan Carroll made 47 saves, and Eric Kroshus scored the tiebreaking goal to lead Harvard to a 4-1 ECAC Hockey victory over league-leading and 13th-ranked Union on Friday at Messa Rink.

The loss snapped the Dutchmen’s five-game winning streak. Union (7-1-3 ECACH, 13-5-5 overall), which outshot Harvard, 48-25, suffered its first league loss of the season.

Carroll was outstanding, particularly in the second period, when he made 20 saves.

The Dutchmen took a 1-0 lead on Jason Walters’ power-play goal at 3:20 of the second period. Conor Morris tied it for Harvard (5-5-2, 5-11-2) 2:13 later.

Kroshus made it 2-1 when he tipped Alex Biega’s right-point shot past goalie Keith Kinkaid.

Danny Biega and Alex Fallstrom scored empty-net goals in the final 1:07 of the game.
