Police allege a Fultonville man was passed out drunk inside his truck that was parked on the busy railroad tracks in the Village of Fonda on Sunday.

Roger A. Savoie, 45, of 186 Pryne Rd., was charged with DWI, unsafe backing and obstructing railway traffic, according to a release from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s department.

When Savoie woke up, police allege his truck started to roll backwards, striking the deputy sheriff’s vehicle.

The arrest took place near the Subway restaurant on the busy set of CSX rail tracks used both for freight and Amtrak passenger trains. A Johnstown woman was killed by a CSX freight train driving over these tracks in February 2005 and a Fonda woman was killed on the same set of tracks farther east in the village by an Amtrak train in May 2007.

Savoie was issued an appearance ticket, police said.
