Wayne Simpson tipped a Mike Schreiber left-point shot at 7:11 of the third period, snapping a 2-2 tie and giving 20th-ranked Union a 4-2 come-from-behind ECAC Hockey victory over St. Lawrence.

The win, couple with Yale’s 6-3 victory over Harvard and Cornell’s 5-3 loss to Princeton, moves the Dutchmen into a three-way tie for first with Cornell and Yale.

The Dutchmen were down, 2-1, after a short-handed goal by Travis Vermeulen with 6.3 seconds left in the second.

Mario Valery-Trabucco tied it for the Dutchmen at 3:09 of the third. Schreiber’s shot was going wide when Simpson got his stick on it to deflect it past goalie Kain Tisi.

Brock Matheson made it a two-goal cushion with 1:53 left.
