The village of Scotia is presenting its first Winter Fest on Sunday at Collins Park.
The free event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be ice skating, horse-drawn carriage rides, a bonfire, and a chili cook-off among some of the local restaurants. There will also be an ice fishing contest for children age 16 and under. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the contest is at 10 a.m.
Mayor Kris Kastberg said this the first time the Park Board has organized a villagewide event, and it was scheduled to coincide with the end of the winter break for schools.
“By Sunday, people could be coming back from vacation and looking for something to do with their families before they go back to school,” he said.
