Employees at the East Side Recreation Field House have been relocated to City Hall after a routine inspection of the building revealed something that raised some eyebrows.
Officials won’t say what the preliminary tests showed, and expect to release more information in the coming days with results of follow-up tests, said Janice White, superintendent of Saratoga Springs City School District, which owns the property.
“We determined that we wanted to do some other testing,” White said, declining to identify what the tests were looking for.
Two city workers whose offices are in the field house were relocated to City Hall’s Civil Service office sometime after preliminary testing in early February.
Mayor Scott Johnson moved the employees, White said.
Johnson could not be reached for comment Monday.
The employee relocation means that parents who want to register their children for spring recreation programs need to visit City Hall, not the field house.
The rec workers are located in a side entrance facing Lake Avenue.

Registration for spring programs takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday through March 26.
White said a new contract between the school district and the city stipulates that the district must inspect the buildings on the property annually.
The two parties went without a contract for a year while they negotiated a new agreement.
