School officials have named three finalists for associate superintendent of Schenectady High School, the district announced this morning.
The finalists are: John Harrison, principal of Mercer Island School District in the state of Washington; Helen Livingston, former superintendent of Chester Union Free School District in Chester, N.Y.; and Henry Kaiser, currently a chemistry teacher at Holy Names Academy in Albany and former deputy superintendent of Pittsfield Public Schools.
Harrison will spend Monday touring the district, visiting high school classrooms and meeting with students, staff and administration. A public forum will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Schenectady High School Black Box Theatre.
The candidates are vying to replace Gary Comley, who is retiring at the end of June.
More than 70 applications were received for the position, according to a press release. A committee of teachers, parents, administrators, community members and clergymen narrowed the pool down to six and then three this week.
