Authorities in Schoharie County shut down several roadways due to high water and a culvert issue following rainfall last night. Minor flooding is being reported along creeks and streams in other parts of the Capital Region as well.

Schoharie County Emergency Management Director Judith Warner said roadways shut down include the seasonally flooded Steuben Street in Esperance, situated just south of U.S. Route 20 near the Schoharie Creek and state Route 30 near the town lines of Blenheim and Fulton, also along the Schoharie Creek.

State Route 30 in Middleburgh near the bridge spanning the Schoharie Creek is also closed, according to dispatchers.

Ecker Hollow Road was closed in East Cobleskill due to an overflowing pond and malfunctioning culvert and Redling Road near Max V. Shaul state park is also closed, Warner said.

Warner said water was flowing about three feet over the Gilboa Dam this morning.

A flood warning is in effect for the Schoharie Creek at Burtonsville, Montgomery County, where the creek reached 6.9 feet at 7 a.m. this morning. The creek is forecast to rise to 7.9 feet by 8 p.m. this evening, and the flood warning remains in effect until late Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Flood warnings are also posted for the Schoharie Creek at Prattsville, the Gilboa Bridge and the Gilboa Dam and in Breakabeen, according to the National Weather Service.

The Canajoharie Creek was at 7.9 feet at 5 a.m. Tuesday and expected to reach 8.1 feet, according to the National Weather Service.
