State police say a driver and her teen daughter are dead after their disabled car was rear-ended by a pickup truck on a bridge near Albany.

Troopers say the car was stopped with a flat tire in a driving lane on the Castleton Bridge, which carries the Berkshire Spur of the state Thruway over the Hudson River in the town of Schodack.

The 35-year-old driver and her 14-year-old daughter were pronounced dead at the scene. Her 10-year-old son was taken to Albany Medical Center with possible fractures. The names of the victims won’t be released until relatives are notified. The pickup driver and his passenger were taken to the hospital with cuts and possible neck and back injuries.

The accident remains under investigation. It happened at about 6 p.m. Monday and closed the westbound highway for much of the evening.
