A Gloversville-area man indicted for allegedly selling cocaine to an informant on two occasions in October pleaded guilty Monday in Fulton County Court to third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Mitchell Ostrander, 21, of Pine Street Extension pleaded guilty before Judge Polly A. Hoye.

Sentencing was postponed until June, but under terms of the plea bargain, Ostrander will serve a prison term of 21⁄2 years with two years of post-release supervision.

He was arrested in January by Gloversville Police and indicted Jan. 19 on two counts each of third-degree sale, third-degree possession and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

In other cases Monday before Hoye:

u Callie Wilson, 40, of North Street, Gloversville, pleaded guilty to fourth-degree arson, admitting she set fire to paper she placed in the stairwell of her apartment building.

Sentencing was postponed until June, but under provisions of the plea bargain she will serve six months in jail and five years probation and pay restitution.

Wilson was arrested in January by Gloversville police on charges of attempted second-degree arson and reckless endangerment after police and firefighters were called to her building and determined she had poured cooking oil on paper in the stairwell and ignited it.

Wilson retreated to her apartment and refused to open the door, police said. When officers forced open the door they said they discovered she had also ignited papers inside her apartment.

u Joshua Tyrrell, 25, of Bleecker Street, Gloversville, was sentenced to a prison term of two years based on his Feb. 3 plea to attempted fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Hoye also sentenced Tyrrell to 11⁄2 years of post-release supervision.

He was arrested twice in January, once following a Jan. 5 traffic stop in Johnstown in which police said they found crack cocaine on his person and the second time a week later when corrections officers said they found him with cocaine while at the Fulton County Jail.

He was charged with third-degree criminal possession after the traffic stop and with first-degree promoting contraband at the jail.
